Student Welfare

Safety
At Antonio Park Primary School we believe that children learn best when they feel safe and secure. At recess and lunchtime three staff are rostered on to supervise children in the schoolyard. In February additional staff are also in the yard to assist with the supervision of the preps. All visitors to the school must sign in at the main office where they are issued with a visitors’ badge. Children are encouraged to report any unauthorised visitors immediately to a member of staff.

No child is allowed to leave the school grounds during school hours; either as a regular arrangement or on separate special occasions unless a letter has been received from his/her parents requesting this to take place. Even then, in the interests of the child's safety, parents must collect their child from within the school area.

First Aid
To ensure your child’s wellbeing and to provide students with the best possible care we employ a first aid officer whose primary duty it is to tend to the physical welfare needs of our students where necessary administering first aid, contacting and communicating with parents, guardians and/or emergency family contacts in event of injury or illness.

Code of Conduct
Our STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT was developed by our school council in collaboration with the staff and the students through our Junior School Council. We have high expectations of student behaviour and conduct. Where students breach our school rules we apply logical consequences. All teachers focus on school and class expectations as a matter of priority at the beginning of the school year. These are revisited at regular intervals.

Buddies
Our Buddy program ensures that each child from Prep to Grade 6 is matched up with a student from another class. The resulting relationship that develops assists in students feeling safe and secure at school and promotes a more harmonious school climate.
