In 2001 Antonio Park Primary School was invited to become a pilot school for the Sustainable Schools program, one of twenty schools across Victoria. The Sustainable Schools program is co-ordinated by The Gould League and CERES Environmental Park in Victoria with links to other Australian states and territories. The program provides a holistic approach, so that schools do not see each area in isolation, but as part of the bigger picture of sustainability.
Our school is always looking at ways to reduce our waste, recycle and reuse materials. We are one of the only schools with native bushland within our school boundary. Along with our chooks and goats, and veggie garden, we have the ultimate environment for teaching students all about sustainable practices and protecting our environment.
Each class has Environmental Leaders who have the role of modelling the best environmental and waste practices for our school. Water and energy use programs will be built on in the coming years. Antonio Park Primary School is working towards a sustainable future and environment for our whole school community.
